Summer “porch jams” mark the return of live music to Chicago

CHICAGO In Lakeview and Roscoe Village, Chicago musicians scramble on porches all summer long, giving concerts from someone’s porch.

“It was exciting to be in the fresh air in their backyard,” said folk rock musician Andrew Palmer.

Palmer was one of the first musicians to perform on a porch this summer as part of “Porch jams”.

Every Sunday until August, different musicians will perform under different porches. At the end of August, all the performers will gather in Lakeview and Roscoe Village for the “Porch Fest”.

The performing musicians are delighted to perform again in front of a live crowd.

“I had like a moment in the middle, it was wonderful”, harpist LeAnne Bennion mentionned.

On Sundays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., you can bring a chair and sit down to soak up live music on a hot summer afternoon.

“Porch Jams” also supports local businesses. Crosby Kitchen and Apothecary HuxHemp CBD will actually deliver items straight to your chair. CBD essences are also made in Chicago from Bridgeport.

“A lot of our clients are musicians, there are more like-minded people,” said Russell Huxhold of HuxHemp.
