In a recent preview of the Fresh Summit virtual platform, Jamie Hillegas from PMA showed what the platform will look like and how attendees and exhibitors can navigate it to get the most out of their experience. “Nothing can completely replace an in-person event, but there are a lot of opportunities to be had in this virtual world, in terms of how many people can participate and how we can connect with each other. We are excited to see it come to life this year, that people benefit from this event, and to see how we can use this technology to add value to future in-person events, ”said Hillegas.

When you enter the platform, the first page you access is the home page (see above). “On the left, you will have your personal profile, and at the top of the page, you will see the various navigation tabs. There will be different announcements on the right side, and at the bottom of the page you can see all the different sponsors of the event. From this page, you can update your profile by adding a short bio or description of yourself and add your contact information (which is only visible to others when you agree to connect with them). Here you can also find your favorite companies.

The marketplace, rather than being presented as a showroom, is a web page made up of a sortable list of companies. “You will be able to sort the companies in the same way that the show was segmented last year: by products, flowers, solutions, etc. », Explains Hillegas. “In addition, you can sort them by pavilion, by first-time exhibitor or by product category. “

When you click on a business, you will be taken to its business page. “Here you’ll see all the content they’ve added to their page: product information, videos, etc. You have the option to chat directly with the company or click on any of the team members in a list at the bottom of the page to chat with a specific team member. At the top of the page, you can see the available meeting times and schedule a meeting with the company, but you can also make video calls with your on-premises connections, ”Hillegas explains.

Even in virtual format this year, the Fresh Ideas Showcase will be part of the show. “It will be set up the same as usual, so the categories at the top are the same as you’re used to seeing. It’s a way for buyers and attendees to find products that were launched last year, ”Hillegas explains.

The Fresh Summit platform will be available through a web page as well as through a mobile app. “The mobile app will be ready this week, and it will have all the same options and functionality as the website. You will be able to receive notifications of chats and meetings on your phone, and organize your meetings by video call via your phone as well, ”explains Hillegas.

“You can’t just take a show in person and put it online. People absorb content online in very different ways. This is why we have strived to make the platform as versatile and easy to use as possible. There will be a variety of ways for people to find businesses, and recommendations will appear as well, making it as easy as possible to create those connections that we are all looking for, ”she concludes.
