A gang of five, including three women, were arrested by Vidyaranyapura police for creating fake site documents and selling them for a quick buck.
Those arrested were identified as Faiza Sultana alias Sherly Jose, 33, from RT Nagar, his friend Kabir Ali alias Babu, 35, from Sahakaranagar, Jagadish alias Yogesh, 40, Jayamma alias Suvarnamma, 50, and Pooja alias Vaishali alias Kalpana, 26 years old. , all three are residents of Vidyaranyapura and surrounding areas.
The gang had forged the document of a site in HMT Layout and sold it to another person for Rs 65 lakh. The site was owned by retired HMT employee Suvarnamma D, 67, a resident of RT Nagar. She had bought the site in 1988.
She did not visit the site regularly because she had not developed it. Babu, a real estate agent, observed that the site owner had not come to the site for a long time. He hatched a plan to create fake documents and sell them. He shared it with his accomplices. After collecting the ownership documents, he hired Jayamma to act as the original Suvarnamma owner.
He created fake Aadhaar and fake voter card and other documents in Suvarnamma’s name and gave them to Jayamma. He and Sulthana convinced Jayamma’s daughter Pooja to act as Suvarnamma’s daughter Kalpana.
They registered the property in the name of Kalpana through a deed of gift on June 16, 2020. They projected it as Suvarnamma had donated his property to Kalpana. They later registered the same property in Yogesh’s name, through a deed of gift on October 5, 2020, with Yogesh posing as Kalpana’s husband. The gang prepared a deal to sell Yogesh to Sherly Jose on January 16, 2021 and rescinded it.
Babu found a Venkatanarayana buyer and sold the same property on August 24, 2021 for Rs 65 lakh. The fraud came to light in April this year, when the original Suvarnamma took the Certificate of Encumbrance (CE) and Khatha from his property to qualify for a home loan. She discovered that her site had been sold and contacted Anoop A Shetty, Assistant Commissioner of Police (North East) and he ordered Vidyaranyapura Police to investigate.
The team led by Inspector V Anil Kumar arrested the gang.
