COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A Colorado Springs family sheds light on a difficult situation. On Sunday, the “Share Benny’s Kindness” organization held its first fundraiser near Palmer Park Boulevard and North Academy Boulevard in Colorado Springs.
Benny Nandin was killed on the job in February 2020; months later, police announced and identified two suspects in the case: Kyree Howard-Walker, 27, and Vanessa Taylor, 39.
People could come to the fundraiser to get tickets for games, lip balm, t-shirts and bandanas; all the things Benny loved. Several food trucks also came for the cause. The event took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lisa Nadin, Benny’s mother, says events like these are important in continuing to spread her son’s kindness and positivity around the world. “I think it’s important that we do this so that we share the kindness. In our community we need kindness and we need someone to promote kindness and this is really what Benny has done in his own way and since he is no longer there to do it we have to. do, ”explains Nadin.
All funds raised today will go to random acts of kindness throughout the year. “What we’re going to do are random acts of kindness throughout the year, but specifically between February 8 and 11, because it’s Benny’s birthday and his date of death. So we focus more on those four days to really explode random acts of kindness over those four days, but we also have to have them throughout the year, ”says Nadin.
Share Benny’s Kindness is planning to host more events like these in the future.
