They weren’t gone long, but their absence caused a big enough backlash that Facebook is having today. ad that Messenger polls are back in play in your discussion streams.
Facebook launched the first surveys in Messenger back in 2016, but they were recently deleted as part of Facebook “Lightspeed” redesign of the Messenger app, which sought to streamline operations and de-clutter the presentation.
But now, Messenger polls are back – and on top of that, they come with a new look and improved response.
As explained by Facebook:
“Experienced users of the previous version of Polls will note that we’ve refreshed the look with new colors and an updated button to vote. We’ve also added polls to the Messenger Desktop app, available for Mac and Windows users. “

So now the polls look cooler and are integrated with the new updated Messenger framework, so they’re generally better overall. And they are available everywhere iOS, Android, Web, and Desktop. Perhaps it was worth their brief absence.
To create a survey in Messenger:
- Press + and select Polls in a group chat
- From here you can add a question for your friends to vote by selecting Type in poll question
- Select Options, then tap Create Poll to submit your topic for group discussion
