Dorsey adds talent in new Phoenix office | Your money


PHOENIX–(BUSINESS WIRE)–February 16, 2022–

Dorsey & Whitney LLP continues to expand its presence in Phoenix with the addition of partners Alissa Brice Castañeda and Gabriel Hartsell and a team of four partners and two legal assistants. They join partners Scott Jenkins, Isaac Gabriel and Andrea Palmer who opened the office on January 18, 2022. Dorsey now has 13 attorneys licensed to practice in Arizona.

Alissa Brice Castaneda the practice focuses on bankruptcy, creditor rights litigation, commercial litigation and healthcare litigation. Alissa advises banks, lending institutions and other creditors and corporate clients in connection with Chapter 11 bankruptcies, loan restructurings and restructurings, receiverships and other enforcement actions, foreclosure and deficiency. In addition to her restructuring practice, Alissa also represents clients in commercial litigation before state and federal courts. Alissa also manages health litigation and frequently defends her clients in administrative hearings.

Prior to joining Dorsey, Alissa was a partner at Quarles & Brady LLP in the Phoenix office. She received her BA from the University of Southern California and her JD from Boston College Law School.

Gabriel Hartsell represents creditors in Chapters 7, 11 and 13 filings, as well as pursuing their claims against debtors in these cases. His practice focuses on protecting the rights of creditors in all facets of bankruptcy reorganizations, restructurings, restructurings and other financial transactions. He regularly represents commercial equipment lenders and lessors in major corporate reorganization matters, as well as commercial landlords in all aspects of litigation and lease resolution. He regularly advises financial institutions, creditors, debt servicing officers and a variety of corporate clients on a wide range of commercial and contractual disputes. This includes guiding clients in efforts to enforce pre-suit liens under the UCC, as well as protecting the interests and collateral rights of secured creditors through the application of interim remedies such as sequestration.

Gabriel’s litigation experience extends to defending clients in the financial services industry against class actions and individual legal claims, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fair Practices Act of debt collection, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Truth in Loans Act, and related state claims, with a primary focus on federal court practice. Gabriel incorporates an entrepreneurial spirit into his legal practice, aiming to resolve clients’ legal issues through effective litigation management, while always keeping in mind the cost and liability associated with each individual case.

Prior to joining Dorsey, Gabriel was with Quarles & Brady LLP in the Phoenix office. He received his BS from Palm Beach Atlantic University and his JD from Florida State University College of Law.
