Looking for the echoes of faith in the north transept (the part of a cross shaped church, at a right angle to the long main section) as the choir sing on Sunday, Sung Eucharist, by the Collegiate Singers at Westminster Abbey, London.
Islam teaches that to Prophet David, upon whom be peace, a text was revealed from God, known as Zabur, often translated in English as the Psalms. Muslims believe that Prophet David was blessed with a beautiful voice and would sing the Zabur. Listening to choir sing at Westminster abbey brought to mind the story of Prophet David.
And, aside from the occasional phrase which suggests that God has a son, or that there is a mother to God - Islam teaches that God is God, God neither begets nor is begotten and there is nothing comparable to God - the choirs singing paints a picture of what it may have been like for the followers of Prophet David, to sing the praises of God.
